Tuesday, Nov 3

A day for Kolob Canyon.  I hiked up the canyon only part way, as far as the old cabin, with the intent of doing another trail afterwards.  I took one look at the other trail and it was down, down, down… which means up, up, up later.  Didn't do it.

Wednesday, Nov 4

I went up Zion Canyon with the intent of hiking a couple of the shorter trails, but the place was jammed with people--no place at all to park.  So I gave that idea up for now and went up through the tunnel and down to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park instead.

Water Striders

Thursday, Nov 5

I intended to do a couple of the shorter hikes, but every parking lot was jammed.  Instead I managed to find a parking spot further down and hiked along the Virgin River bottoms instead.  Since I was off trail, there was no one else nearby; a better hike.

Friday, November 6

Up the Angel's Landing trail; I was only slightly tempted at Boy Scout Lookout, but 1000' drop-offs on either side of a very steep and narrow trail doesn't to much for my acrophobia!  Annie made it all the way to the landing a few years ago;  I sure miss her on this hike. I stuck with plan A and and continued up the West Rim trail until I was slightly above the landing before having lunch and coming back down.  (Huff-puff)

Walter's Wiggles.  (Named after a superintendant many years ago who was responsible for designing and building the series of switchbacks.)

Angels Landing

Monday, November 8

And so ends this fall's sojourn in Utah Canyon country.  I moved down to Hurricane where I had some maintenance work scheduled (which didn't happen anyway), and spent Tuesday getting ready to store the motor home until March.  The good weather ended the very morning that I left Zion.
